UCT medical students introduced to clinical prediction modelling
30 Jul 2019 - 08:15
On the 20th July 2019, we held a 4-hour workshop into clinical prediction modelling with a special focus on HIV-associated TB. Seven UCT undergraduate medical students and Dr Linda Boloko from the Department of Medicine attended the workshop. For the first 3-hours, students were introduced to basic concepts related to prediction modelling including probability theory and regression methods. For the final hour, students learnt about the relevant steps in model development and validation using a case study from the literature.
The workshop was facilitated by:
Dr David Barr (Infectious Diseases Clinician and Lecturer, University of Liverpool)
Dr Ashar Dhana (Fogarty Clinical PhD Fellow, UCT)
